Elementary and Intermediate School
Grades 1-8

Heritage Academy’s Grades 1 to 8 program provides a nurturing and structured learning environment where students thrive both academically and personally.
We follow the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring that students receive a strong, well-rounded foundation aligned with provincial standards. At Heritage Academy, we recognize that each child learns differently.
Our approach emphasizes multisensory instruction, allowing students to engage with material through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic methods. This supportive environment helps students develop core skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, while building confidence and enthusiasm for learning.

Small class sizes and individualized attention allow our educators to tailor instruction to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
Our dedicated teaching staff and resource support team work closely with students who may benefit from additional help in areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics. This personalized model encourages every student to progress at a pace that suits their abilities and strengths.

Our daily schedule is carefully structured to balance academic instruction with physical activity and creative enrichment. In addition to core subjects, students participate in physical education, the arts, and hands-on learning opportunities that support their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

In the upper elementary and middle school years (Grades 7–8), students are gradually introduced to a more departmentalized structure with subject-specific teachers. This helps them build organizational and time management skills in preparation for the increased independence of high school. Students also begin to take more responsibility for their learning, setting the stage for long-term academic success.

We place great importance on maintaining strong communication between home and school. Parents are encouraged to be active partners in their child’s education, and staff provide regular updates on student progress and well-being.
Our classrooms are guided by a clear code of conduct that promotes respect, responsibility, and inclusion, fostering a positive and welcoming school culture.

In all, Heritage Academy’s Grades 1 to 8 program offers a safe, engaging, and multisensory learning experience that supports the development of well-rounded, confident, and capable students, ready to take on the challenges of high school and beyond.
