This week, our Grade 9 and 10 Technology and Skilled Trades students had an incredible opportunity to participate in the first-ever Algonquin College Heritage Academy Trades Camp — a unique hands-on learning experience created especially for Heritage Academy of Learning Excellence students.
Throughout the day, students explored a variety of skilled trades while working alongside Algonquin College professors and senior students.
In the morning, students learned welding techniques and created their own welded wolf projects before building custom shadow boxes through woodworking and cabinetry activities. After lunch, students headed to the automotive bays to gain hands-on experience in automotive skills, including changing a tire.
This exciting opportunity gave students meaningful exposure to the skilled trades through experiential learning and strong curriculum connections to the Grade 9 and 10 Technology and Skilled Trades programs.
Thank you to the staff, professors, and senior students from both Heritage Academy of Learning Excellence and Algonquin College for organizing such an engaging and memorable experience for our students.
