Louise Brazeau-Ward is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Dyslexia. Watching her son's continuous struggle in school compelled Louise to focus her energy and time towards dyslexia, research. In order to better help her son, she founded heritage Academy, a primary and secondary school for dyslexia. John has since completing his history degree at Ottawa University Magna Cum Lade.

As Louise began to train new tutors in French, she recognized the need for an easier-to-learn and easier-to-use system. To satisfy that need, she developed the EMS method. Since English speaking teachers and parents found the new system easier to use, Louise adapted the EMS method in English. Now SMT  (English) is being used in schools and homes throughout Canada and abroad.

As founder of the Canadian Dyslexia Centre, Louise devotes her time to educating parents, teachers, and tutors about the causes, symptoms, and the appropriate remediation techniques for students with dyslexia. In addition to offering seminars to the public, she conducts in-service trainings throughout School Boards and Universities in Canada as well as the Federal Government.

Louise is co-author with Dr. John Griffin, Walton on the Test de dépistage de la dyslexie, Test de dyslexie et Test de dépistage pour élèves de la maternelle. She has since won many awards for her work in the field of dyslexia research. She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham based reading system. Louise has appeared as an expert witness based on her knowledge of dyslexia in courts. She also published many books/articles on dyslexia, including:
